More about Oregon City, Oregon

There are approximately 29,000 people living in Oregon City today. Residents here are proud of the city's rich history, and strive to maintain its strong character. There are popular museums here, including the Museum of the Oregon Territory and the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, which features a very popular multimedia presentation designed to bring to life the city's bygone days.

Oregon City is a great place to move to because the city is near enough to major centers like Portland to be convenient, but not so close as to have the hustle-and-bustle lifestyle that comes with larger communities. The schools in the area have a good reputation, and transportation is a breeze with TriMet servicing the community. There is also an historic trolley that takes visitors and residents on a delightful historic tour of the town. The downtown core is a lovely spot, with murals, shops, and beautifully preserved historic buildings.

One particularly unique attraction in Oregon City is its municipal elevator, which takes people to and from the two levels of the town which are separated by a 100-foot cliff. It is the only such elevator of its kind in the United States, and one of only four in the entire world.
