New park coming to Happy Valley July 2009

That’s right! A 35 acre park, yet to be named, located on 162^nd Ave South of Sunnyside Road and North of Hwy 212. The park will include athletic fields, play areas, walking trails, a skate park, a dog run and picnic areas.

The $8 million purchase is adjacent to about 40 acres recently acquired by North Clackamas School District (NC12) which is planned for development of a new middle and elementary school. NCPRD and NC12 are considering sharing facilities, including parking, recreational fields and roads.

Phase 1 of the park’s construction should be completed by fall. It includes four full-size, all-weather turf baseball/softball fields with lights; a multi-use soccer/lacrosse field; parking areas and utilities; landscaping; a concession and a restroom building.

Phase II will likely include a skate park – now in the planning stages and dependent upon grants for funding; play areas; recreation offices and picnic facilities. Future phases beyond that are expected to include a dog run, a maintenance yard, more walking trails and picnic areas.
